You can enter to win a KFC Colonel Sanders pool float

If you were hoping to spend your summer floating in the arms of an inflatable Colonel Sanders, you’re in luck. KFC is giving away several hundred oversized plastic pool toys that look just like the Colonel and hold a bucket of fast food giant’s famous fried chicken. But, you’ll need to fill out an entry form to get one of these bad boys — they’re not for sale. Deeming that “The best things in life are free,” instead, KFC is giving them away to a few hundred fortunate fans. If the float looks familiar, your TV game is strong. The oversized inflatable Sanders made an appearance in a recent KFC commercial announcing a new KFC sandwich called The Crispy Colonel. The ad featured actor George Hamilton lounging in the ocean, catching some sunshine, to give the sandwich name some literal imagery. https://www.instagram.com/p/BjKUC5qA1-q/?taken-by=kfc The inflatable is the latest in a long line of products…

Calorie counts on most fast food menus are now required

You know that fast food is totally terrible for you, but if you had nutrition information in front of your face while you ordered, would you practice some restraint? The next time you head to a Taco Bell or even Coldstone Creamery you’ll be tested. Starting May 7, the Food and Drug Administration will require any food outlet with more than 20 locations to list the calorie counts for each menu item — every restaurant from Auntie Annes to Chick-fil-A, Orange Julius and Panera are affected. And the information won’t be posted exclusively online, or in some dark corner of the restaurant either. The calorie counts will be front and center on the menu, so you won’t be able to throw caution to the wind and order those Doritos Locos Tacos and hope for the best. You’ll know exactly the size of the caloric gut-bomb you’re eating. It’s an Obama-era policy that…

Wisconsin man chows down on his 30,000th McDonald’s Big Mac

A warning for all the fast food lovers out there: this diet is not recommended. A retired Wisconsin prison guard ate his 30,000th Big Mac last week — 46 years after eating his first. WBAY-TV reports that Fond du Lac resident Don Gorske holds the Guinness World Record for eating the most Big Macs. The 64-year-old has eaten at least one Big Mac every day since May 17, 1972. “If I go for 40,000, that’ll take me another 14 years or whatever like that. I don’t think people celebrate 35,000 at all, so we’re probably looking at 14 more years down the road, and I’ll be 78 years old then! So we’ll have to see how I’m doing then, you know?” Gorske told WBAY-TV. Michael “Jim” Delligatti, a Pennsylvania-based McDonald’s franchisee, invented the Big Mac in 1967. Delligatti died in November 2016 at the age of 98. While the Big…

Women who eat fast food, not enough fruit increase chances of infertility

Women who eat less fruit are harming their chances of getting pregnant, a new study has found. Australian researchers reported that women who ate fewer than three pieces of fruit per month were more likely to experience infertility in the upcoming year. The study, published in the peer-reviewed medical journal Human Reproduction, examined the diets of more than 5,500 women in Australia, New Zealand, the U.K. and Ireland. The collected data revealed that women who ate fewer than three pieces of fruit in a month took 50 percent longer to conceive than the women who ate more than three pieces of fruit in their diet each month. The study also looked at junk food consumption. Women who rarely ate fast food got pregnant on average a month faster than women who ate fast food at least four times a week. “We recommend that women who want to become pregnant should align their dietary intakes toward…

JetBlue will fly NYC pizzas cross-country for delivery in LA

If you’ve ever felt the delivery area for Uber eats was just too darn small, let JetBlue give you hope for the future. In an amazing marketing stunt dubbed “Pie in the Sky,” the domestic airline carrier will travel cross-county to deliver authentic New York-style pizzas of the iconic Patsy’s Pizzeria of East Harlem to Los Angeles residents. Between May 9 and May 11, JetBlue will fly a total of 350 cheese and pepperoni pies from JFK to LAX each day. A team on the ground in LA will then see that it makes it directly to your door. And considering the cost of fuel and the salary of a professional pilot as your delivery driver, cheese is a very reasonable $12 and pepperoni $15. Ordering opens on www.jetblue.pizza at 12 a.m. PDT daily throughout the promotion. Patsy’s opened in East Harlem in 1933, and is one of the oldest…

In-N-Out Burger voted America’s favorite fast-food restaurant again

One fast-food joint continues to attract fans from all across America — even if they’re only found on one coast. For the second year in a row, In-N-Out Burger has topped Market Force’s annual customer survey of the nation’s favorite quick-serve restaurant chains. Despite being famously limited to the West Coast, the beloved California-based burger chain earned a 76 percent rating in customer loyalty — higher than any restaurant in any category. In-N-Out has more than 300 locations, all in western states. But there’s competition on the horizon. While In-N-Out Burger won Market Force’s survey last year, Five Guys won out in the separate Harris Poll last year. Chick-Fil-A fans voted the chicken chain second place with an overall ranking and 73 percent in customer loyalty. Other big winners include Culver’s, a burger chain originating in Wisconsin now found in 24 states with 66 percent loyalty, and Raising Cane’s, another specialty chicken restaurant.…
