From the time former Vice President Joe Biden stepped into office, he was honest about his one true love — ice cream.
He publicly proclaimed his passion for the frozen treat by saying, “My name is Joe Biden and I love ice cream,” and then again, in a YouTube video with the Penny Ice Creamery in Santa Cruz, Calif., stating, “I don’t drink. I don’t smoke. But I eat a lot of ice cream.” His love has lead to a Tumblr dedicated to displaying photos of Biden and ice cream, countless internet memes, and even Biden sharing the sweet treat with Jimmy Fallon.
And it’s this inspired love story that will have him receive the ultimate in ice cream honors — a flavor bearing his name.
The ex-veep was tapped by Cornell University to be the convocation speaker on May 27. The Cornell Dairy, is going above and beyond to thank their campus guest by paying a lasting tribute to the former VP in the most fitting way possible.
After digging deep to uncover Biden’s favorite flavor, the shop determined chocolate chip would be the honorary flavor.
The flavor’s name is still being decided. Top contenders are Not Your Average Joe’s Chocolate Chip; Biden’s Chocolate Bites; Big Red, White & Biden; and Uncle Joe’s Chocolate Chip, The Cornell Daily Sun reports.
The only certainty at this point is that Biden will celebrate his ice cream honors by indulging in a giant double scoop cone.
