Sleeping with the television on can cause you to gain weight, research shows

If you thought sleeping with the television on was a harmless habit, think again. New research published by JAMA Internal Medicine says that snoozing with an artificial light on nearby can cause you to pack on the pounds. Here’s how it works: The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) surveyed 43,722 women ages 35-74 on whether they slept with a television on, a light outside the room, a small nightlight, or no light present. The participants were not shift workers, daytime sleepers, or pregnant at the time of the study. The women were ask to report changes in weight, height, BMI, waist and hip measurement to the researchers for five years. Researchers then analyzed the data, and the findings are unsettling. Creepy new cooking show coming to Netflix in time for Halloween

There’s a new cooking show headed to Netflix in October, and it sounds perfect addition to our Halloween fun. According to the streaming service’s description, The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell stars the “wickedly talented baker and artist” Christine McConnell. Fans will recognize McConnell from Instagram where the baker/artist/photographer has over 260,000 followers for her creepy cakes, pies and other macabre makings. The show is being produced by Wilshire Studios and Henson Alternative, the grown-up side of the Jim Henson Company, so we just might see some creepy puppet critters lending Christine a hand in the kitchen. New Netflix show “Nailed It” celebrates cooking fails

Pinterest is packed with tons of whimsical, impressive looking recipes that we all dream of recreating someday — and sometimes, we wish we hadn’t. Even with the best of intentions those adorable baby shower bunny cookies end up looking like baby’s worst nightmare. And that pretty unicorn cake — definitely less than magical. The internet is full of these  hilarious and relatable memes, often appropriately captioned “Nailed It.” And in a stroke of genius, Netflix has made this the premise of their newest show by the same name. Nailed It will feature three home bakers “with a terrible track record” who will try to recreate some of Pinterest’s most popular goodies. As a reality competition show, of course prizes are involved. The baker who comes closest to actually nailing it will be awarded $10,000.
