Brad Pitt to open new restaurant, resort in Croatia

Soon, Brad Pitt will be able to add the title “hotelier” to his resume. The actor, activist, producer and father of six is the latest celebrity to step into the world of hospitality. People magazine reported Pitt’s plans to open a new luxury resort in Croatia. The massive development will break ground in at the small coastal town of Zablace and will also include a hotel, villa, shops, a golf course, and several restaurants, the Telegraph reports. The project is estimated to cost more than $1.5 billion and will be “a modern ecologically-responsible planned community.” The 52-year-old actor recently stayed overnight in Sibenik’s new Dogusevon Hotel, toured the town and embarked on a walking tour with a team of 10 people around the proposed site of his new investment. Among them was Nikola Basic, creator of the celebrated Sea Organ, a giant culture that creates music as water is passed through its…

Honeygrow opens first restaurant in Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh restaurant scene is growing up. Once known in the culinary world mostly for it’s gut-busting, french fry-topped sandwiches — and perhaps its love affair with ketchup — the Steel City is finally getting more healthy, fast-casual restaurants. Hot on the heels of new eateries Pittsburgh Poke, Plate & Bowl and Earth Inspired Salads, Philly-based Honeygrow is the latest restaurant to bring simple yet sophisticated meal-in-a-bowl style eating to The ‘Burgh. Honeygrow Pittsburgh offers a menu full of seasonally-sourced produce that customers can use to create customized stir-fry bowls or salads. A menu hangs on the wall listing exactly which local farms particular produce came from. (On this day, I was pleased to know the broccoli in my stir-fry came from a town nearby to where I grew up.)  “People are control freaks, and I’m certainly one of them,” said Honeygrow CEO Justin Rosenberg, “And especially today.  There are…

A restaurant totally devoted to Nutella is opening next week

All of your chocolatey dreams have come true. The world’s first Nutella cafe is opening in Chicago on May 31. Although other eateries may offer menus focusing on the rich, hazelnut spread, the Nutella Cafe is the first restaurant owned by Ferrero USA, so the entire restaurant experience is designed around the beloved brand. From the creamy color of the walls, to the hazelnut-shaped hanging lights, everything is inspired by Nutella. “It’s designed to make you feel like you’re actually walking into a jar of Nutella,” said Angela Baird, the director of operations at BIG Retail, who gave design consultation to Ferrero USA, told The Chicago Tribune. “Everything screams Nutella.” There are, of course, no shortage of Nutella menu items. Satisfy any craving with a Nutella filled croissant, waffles served with warm apples Nutella drizzle and toasted hazelnuts, or steel-cut oats topped with mixed berries, almond milk and, what else, Nutella.…
