Starbucks edges out Dunkin’ Donuts as American’s favorite coffee

A coffee king has been crowned for the coming year. Starbucks has taken the top spot as America’s favorite coffee, narrowly surpassing three-time honoree Dunkin’ Donuts for the Coffee and Quick Service Restaurant Brand of the Year. The Harris Poll shows that 11 percent of millennials and 10 percent of Gen X’ers visit a Starbucks daily. “Given the ever-present morning rush lines at Starbucks, the fact that millennials and Gen X make daily Starbucks runs might not be entirely surprising, but it is telling,” said Joan Sinopoli, vice president of brand solutions at The Harris Poll. “With its engaging rewards app and high-end Starbucks Reserve brand, Starbucks is proactively pursuing millennials and quite frankly, doing it better than most right now.” Restaurants continue to adapt to the millennial lifestyle and ordering methods such as Starbucks’ mobile app and rewards program could be contributing to the recent boost. The poll employed the EquiTrend…

Starbucks “Pink Drink” Goes Public for Summer 2017

If you’ve never heard of the Starbucks “Pink Drink,” then you must not be female. Last summer, the picture perfect pink drink was the envy of every girly Instagram feed on the globe. It was beautiful, icy, mysterious and could only be ordered off of the company’s “secret menu.” Starbucks announced this week that the Pink Drink has now officially joined the  year-round menu. The legitimate recipe will replace water with coconut milk in a strawberry acai Starbucks Refresher drink with accents of passion fruit and will be topped with a scoop of strawberries. “We’re thrilled that the beloved Pink Drink is joining the Starbucks menu, just in time for the warmer spring months,” said Vivienne Long, Starbucks vice president, U.S. Retail Beverages said in a statement. “This delicious and refreshing drink is a celebration of our customers’ and baristas’ creativity and is just one of the 170,000 ways we craft beverages to…

New Starbucks Cups are Dressed for Spring

Ready. Set. Instagram! Starbucks just announced its first ever springtime hot beverage cups, which will come in three very photogenic pastel shades. The coffee company has a 20-year-running winter tradition of festive holiday cups, and while sometimes controversial, they always create buzz. These new spring cups will surely do the same. The cheery robin’s egg blue (Grande) , sunny yellow (Venti) and fresh green (Tall) will look perfect poised next to one of Starbucks new menu items on your social media this spring. The cups will also appear to feature a spring-related doodle such as a bunny or a shining sun. Some white circles appear to be blank — possibly allowing for customers to get creative and customize their cups. The cups are supposed to be a representation of the florals found in springtime and not the Christian Easter holiday. The cups will be available in the United States and Canada beginning March 16 for…

Wine-infused coffee has finally come to us from heaven

If you gave up alcohol or coffee for Lent this year, this one is going to hurt. The folks at Molinari Private Reserves, a Nappa Valley café, have created a wine-infused coffee. Yes, your two most beloved beverages have merged, so you can have the most magical of mornings. The company website says that the full-bodied coffee beans “relax in a beautiful wine, absorbing the wine’s nose and history, then the coffee is carefully dried and hand-roasted in small batches.” (Swoon) The result is a wine-infused coffee that smells like wine but tastes like coffee with the essence of blueberry. The MPR website says the more milk you add, the more it will taste like wine. They also add that letting the coffee sit a while improves the flavors — just like wine. The beans can be prepared anyway you like — Latte, Espresso, French Press, Cold, Black or used as a rub. The coffee is only…

Coming to Starbucks in 2017

Soon, you may be craving more than just Starbucks Frappes and PSLs. While the company first rolled out warm breakfast sandwiches in April 2003, we still don’t usually think of them for food. They’re hoping that’s about to change. A small but mighty menu is planned for release throughout 2017. With relatively few change-ups in their menu in the past consumers, were surely tiring of the basic egg white and spinach sandwich—especially this lady who ate nothing but Starbucks for year. Some items are already being offered in select Starbucks, and for the others we’ll just have to keep checking back in store—not like we’re not shamelessly there all the time anyway. 1. Sous Vide Egg Bites “Egg bites” on its own didn’t really inspire appetites, and things always sound tastier in French, hence “sous vide.” The fancy French cooking technique takes vacuum-sealed food, in this case eggs, and cooks them in precisely boiled hot water.…
