These were the most searched recipes of 2018

When we want a recipe we may ask a family member or consult a cookbook, but more often than not, we just ask Google. Google just revealed what we were collectively searching for in 2018, and it seems last year was a year of classic comfort foods. Only one food on this list seems to be a little strange, but regardless, we support your efforts! See which recipe you think doesn’t belong: 1. Pecan Pie This classic pie came out on top, thanks to Southerners and their deep love of the dish on Thanksgiving. Many people just wouldn’t consider the holidays complete without a big slice of this dynamite dessert. 2. Hummingbird Food No, this isn’t some name of some cutsy Pinterest recipe. People were literally searching for foods they could make to attract hummingbirds. Aside from certain native flowers, and nectar feeders, the Audubon Society recommends hanging a few…

12 Iconic All-American foods invented right here at home

American cuisine takes a lot of flack for borrowing heavily from other cultures. Even the beloved hot dog and apple pie are imports (thanks Germany and England!). Over the decades, so many nationalities have influenced the food scene in the United States, it might be hard to point to many original inventions in your daily diet. Millions of people around the world indulged in pie last week to celebrate the mathematical concept of pi (the Greek symbol used to represent 3.14159). The Harris Poll also celebrated by asking Americans about their favorite pie. As usual, apple pie reigns supreme (12%), but pizza comes in a close second (10%) and is, by far, the favorite type of pie among men ages 18-34 (25%). The most popular pizza topping in America continues to be pepperoni. 7 in 10 say the pie filling — not the crust — is the best part. Pie vs. cake When it comes to dessert overall, Americans are nearly evenly split, with a slight preference for cake (52%) over pie (48%) – particularly in the South, where about 6 in 10 prefer cake (61% South), but not in the Midwest where 58% of adults prefer pie. Women (56%) and young adults ages 18-34 (66%)…
