How Arnold Palmer invented his namesake drink

How exactly did a mixed glass of iced tea and lemonade come to share a moniker with the late legendary golfer, Arnold Palmer? There are countless rumors, including the most common that it was a happy accident — like the Slinky or Penicillin. But a few years before his death in 2016 at age 87, Palmer set the record straight in an “ESPN 30 for 30” short documentary. “My wife made a lot of iced tea for lunch, and I said, ‘Hey, Babe, I’ve got an idea. You make the iced tea and make a big pitcher, and we’ll just put a little lemonade it in and see how that works.’ We mixed it up, and I got the solution about where I wanted it, and I put the lemonade in it. I had it for lunch after working on the golf course. I thought, ‘Boy, this is great, Babe.…

Panera’s new cups to show added sugar, calories in drinks

Panera is rolling out new fountain cups this week that list how much added sugar is in its beverages. After customers pay the cashier, they are handed a cup to take to the drink station. The idea goes, that customers will look down at the cup and have the information, literally on hand, that they need to make smart decisions in regards to sugar intake. “We believe it’s up to companies to take the lead on transparency (and) not wait for legislation,” CEO Ron Shaich said in a statement. The company commissioned a nationwide survey, conducted by KRC Research, that found 99 percent of 1,092 respondents didn’t know the amount of added sugar in soft drink, and 83 percent underestimated the amount. The new “sweet facts” fountain cups will hit stores this week. They list the calorie and sugar content of a “regular cola” (250 calories, 17.25 teaspoons of added sugar) alongside…

Disney’s Glowing Lavender Lemonade Looks Sweet for Summer

But it’s the glowing Infinity-Ade drink that is popping up all over Instagram now. At $8, the lavender lemonade comes with a glow cube that you can save all use at home all summer. Reportedly, you can choose your own “stone” color. One fan wrote of the new non-alcoholic drink, “[It] is a lavender lemonade with a sugar/ lavender rim.
