Coney Island and other crazy eating contests in the U.S.

Eating contests are about more than just a casual competition about seeing who can eat the most food the fastest. Major League Eating (MLE) is an actual organization that regulates the sport — much in the way Major League Baseball does. They oversee professional eating contests at fairs and festivals all around the country all year long. Even if you’re not up for the challenge of taking down dozens of hot dogs in a single sitting, you can stop by one of these festivals and be entertained by some of the world’s best eaters — many of them are hosted annually. If it doesn’t make you ill, these eat feats will at least make you marvel at what the human body is capable of! Wisconsin man chows down on his 30,000th McDonald’s Big Mac

A warning for all the fast food lovers out there: this diet is not recommended. A retired Wisconsin prison guard ate his 30,000th Big Mac last week — 46 years after eating his first. WBAY-TV reports that Fond du Lac resident Don Gorske holds the Guinness World Record for eating the most Big Macs. The 64-year-old has eaten at least one Big Mac every day since May 17, 1972. “If I go for 40,000, that’ll take me another 14 years or whatever like that. I don’t think people celebrate 35,000 at all, so we’re probably looking at 14 more years down the road, and I’ll be 78 years old then! So we’ll have to see how I’m doing then, you know?” Gorske told WBAY-TV. Michael “Jim” Delligatti, a Pennsylvania-based McDonald’s franchisee, invented the Big Mac in 1967. Delligatti died in November 2016 at the age of 98. While the Big…

You may think you love cheese pizza, but that three cheese pizza you ordered last night — it’s mere child’s play to the impressive feat of formage one restaurant whipped up last month. A Berlin restaurant created a pie topped with an astounding 111 different types of cheese. It officially earned the title of world’s cheesiest pizza and a place in the Guinness World Record books. According to Guinness officials, the finished pizza included mozzarella, Leicestershire red, Emmental, Comte, and Raclette among dozens of others. https://youtu.be/dHlw2P819NE If you’re imagining a giant pizza, one big enough to hold lots of shredded dairy, you’ll be forgiven. The chef pulled off the feat with a regular-sized pie, just a few centimeters bigger than your usual take-out order. All 111 cheeses were painstakingly weighed so that just 2.6g of each type were included. All told, it had a whopping 288.6 grams of cheese within the walls of the crust. After…

Chef Sets Guinness World Record by Cooking for 53 Consecutive Hours

We’ve all had long days at work when mustering an hour more of energy to cook dinner when we get home seems impossible. Tell that to India’s celebrity chef and TV personality Vishnu Manohar, who cooked a sequence of 20 different meals for 53 hours straight. Manohar raised both hands up in the air with “victory” fingers to mark the end of his record breaking feat. He accomplished his marathon cooking weekend from a stage in view of a large public audience who lined up as the seemingly bionic chef served up plate after plate of food. Although he reached his goal time, he continued for an additional 4 hours to cover the five minute breaks he had taken every 8 to 10 hours, as allowed per the Guinness World Record official rules. As a TV chef, Manohar is accustomed to cooking on his feet for long hours and told the Times of India…
