Where to get free donuts on National Doughnut Day 2019

Food-centric holidays seem to occur nearly every week. Not long ago we celebrated National Pretzel Day, just last week was National Hamburger Day, and we countdown to National Coffee Day every year. But unlike the obscure origins of these holidays, National Doughnut Day goes way back. The first National Doughnut Day was officially established in 1938 by the Salvation Army’s Chicago branch. The chapter revived the donut making tradition as a way to provide much-needed cheer and raise funds for people in need during the Great Depression. The day honored the women who made doughnuts for the soldiers during WWI as a way to boost morale. At their peak, the women could make and supply up to 9,000 doughnuts per day. National Doughnut Day has since become an American tradition and continues to be celebrated the first Friday in June. Many national and local doughnut chains offer freebies or discounts…

This is the fastest drive-thru chain in America

It’s called “fast food” because it’s meant to be made, assembled, packaged and in your hands in mere minutes. But not all drive-thru dining establishments can deliver on this promise. There is, however, one fast food chain that delivers your order in the blink of an eye. A QSR Magazine study found that when you really need your order in a hurry, Burger King is the way to go. The restaurant chain best known for its flame broiled burgers was the fastest drive-thru chain in America in 2018. The study found that it only took three minutes and 13 seconds from the point of ordering, to the moment the order arrived in the hands of the customer. https://www.instagram.com/p/BmOKSFFnPUV/?taken-by=burgerking Trailing Burger King’s record came Dunkin’, Wendy’s, Taco Bell, Arby’s, Carl’s Jr., Hardee’s, Chick-fil-A, and McDonald’s — in that order. (Popular In-N-Out Burger and Bojangles’ were not included in the study because…

Dunkin’ Donuts officially drops ‘Donuts’ from name

After 68 years, Dunkin’ Donuts is officially changing its name. The popular donut and coffee chain announced Tuesday that it will no longer go by the moniker “Dunkin’ Donuts.” Instead, they’re just “Dunkin.” The name changes come after months of speculation and a few new restaurants opening under the new name. According to a press release, the “Donuts” drop “officially puts the company on a first name basis with customers.” The change will take place in January 2019, meaning, all the packaging and signage you see after that will just read “Dunkin.” Pushing on the “first name basis” thing, the company released this tweet: https://twitter.com/dunkindonuts/status/1044647776943058944 Some would argue that the name was simple enough, or that the common reference to “DD” was a better alternative. But regardless, Dunkin’ will still serve the same great coffee and delicious donuts, so, will it really matter? Also see, 8 ways to recycle used…

Starbucks edges out Dunkin’ Donuts as American’s favorite coffee

A coffee king has been crowned for the coming year. Starbucks has taken the top spot as America’s favorite coffee, narrowly surpassing three-time honoree Dunkin’ Donuts for the Coffee and Quick Service Restaurant Brand of the Year. The Harris Poll shows that 11 percent of millennials and 10 percent of Gen X’ers visit a Starbucks daily. “Given the ever-present morning rush lines at Starbucks, the fact that millennials and Gen X make daily Starbucks runs might not be entirely surprising, but it is telling,” said Joan Sinopoli, vice president of brand solutions at The Harris Poll. “With its engaging rewards app and high-end Starbucks Reserve brand, Starbucks is proactively pursuing millennials and quite frankly, doing it better than most right now.” Restaurants continue to adapt to the millennial lifestyle and ordering methods such as Starbucks’ mobile app and rewards program could be contributing to the recent boost. The poll employed the EquiTrend…
