It’s official. Peeps have been dethroned.
America’s favorite Easter candy is no longer the iconic sugar coated, bird-shaped treat.
According to a recent survey conducted by RetailMeNot, the newly crowned king of spring Easter celebrations is Reese’s Mini Peanut Butter Chocolate Eggs. The bite-size version of the classic peanut butter-filled treats are reportedly what people want to find most is their candy baskets this year.
Reese’s eggs beat out Peeps by nearly 20 percent.
Top 5 Easter Treats of 2017, According to RetailMeNot
- Reese’s Mini Peanut Butter Chocolate Eggs (53%)
- Chocolate bunnies (48%)
- Jelly beans (48%)
- Hershey’s Eggs (45%)
- Peeps (34%)
Only 48 percent of survey responders say they plan on buying candy at all this year, but those who do estimate they will spend about $57. At $3 a bag, you could buyย nearly 20 bags of this year’s candy favorite, but be sure to save a little cash for a chocolate bunny centerpiece.
