If you’ve gone to a grocery store lately, you’ll want to take a look at your fresh-cut vegetables because they may be under recall. Mann Packing issued the recall due to a fear that some of its minimally processed vegetables may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. No illnesses have been reported, but one positive result showed up during a random sampling by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

Major grocers including Whole Foods, Walmart, Target, Trader Joe’s Albertson’s, Meijer and others all issued voluntary recalls of Mann products after receiving the results. Affected products were sold throughout the United States and have “best if used by” dates between October 11 and October 20.

Mann Packing Co. has posted a full list of products under recall on its website. Broccoli, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts were the most commonly affected foods, while a large number of vegetables trays made the list as well.

“As an owner of this company and a mom, providing safe and healthy foods to our consumers and their families is always our top priority,” said Gina Nucci, Director of Corporate Marketing at Mann Packing said in a statement. “This voluntary recall is a reflection of our commitment to ensuring the safety of our consumers.”

Listeria is a pathogen that commonly results in symptoms like fever and diarrhea. If the bacteria spreads to other parts of the body, it can cause Listeriosis resulting in muscle aches, loss of balance and confusion. In pregnant women, it can cause stillbirths or miscarriages. The infection is sometimes fatal in young children, elderly people, or those with weakened immune systems.

No illnesses have been reported to date, but it’s best to check the UPC codes and “best if used by” dates on any recently purchased minimally processed produce that may be in your house. Discard or return any veggies you purchased on the list to the store where you purchased them and you will receive a full refund.
