JetBlue will fly NYC pizzas cross-country for delivery in LA

If you’ve ever felt the delivery area for Uber eats was just too darn small, let JetBlue give you hope for the future. In an amazing marketing stunt dubbed “Pie in the Sky,” the domestic airline carrier will travel cross-county to deliver authentic New York-style pizzas of the iconic Patsy’s Pizzeria of East Harlem to Los Angeles residents. Between May 9 and May 11, JetBlue will fly a total of 350 cheese and pepperoni pies from JFK to LAX each day. A team on the ground in LA will then see that it makes it directly to your door. And considering the cost of fuel and the salary of a professional pilot as your delivery driver, cheese is a very reasonable $12 and pepperoni $15. Ordering opens on www.jetblue.pizza at 12 a.m. PDT daily throughout the promotion. Patsy’s opened in East Harlem in 1933, and is one of the oldest…

Galaxy bagel is out of this world

From the folks who brought us the Rainbow Bagel, get ready for the otherworldly experience of the Galaxy Bagel. The Bagel Store, located in Brooklyn, NY, achieved internet fame last year with its swirled, brightly colored bread smeared with cream cheese and funfetti filling. But refusing to go quietly into the night, the store is back on the trending food scene with this gorgeous intergalactic-inspired breakfast treat. The Galaxy Bagels boast a beautiful night sky color scheme of black, turquoise and magenta and are topped with what appears to be glittery, edible sugar crystals. If that isn’t enticing enough, the bagels are  also filled with Moon Rock Cream Cheese — and by moon rocks, they mean big chunks of delicious Oreo cookies. Perfection. No word yet on taste, but for an ultimate in Instagram food photography, jet over to New York for your own Galaxy Bagel. Introducing The Galaxy Bagels with Moon Rock Cream Cheese!…

Soft serve goes goth

White, pink, beige, green, yellow — all legitimate colors for scoops of ice cream atop a crispy cone. If you think about the cool, creamy, classic summer dessert staple, really any color comes to mind except for maybe, well, black. First spotted in the U.S. as a coconut ash flavor last summer at New York City’s Morgenstern’s, rich black sesame ice cream has actually existed in Japan for years. Squid ink ice cream can be found overseas, as well, but Los Angeles’ Little Damage Ice Cream Shop’s almond-charcoal creation is the only black ice cream that also comes in a gothic black cone, adding infinitely to its coolness factor. Charcoal has been popping up recently in other trends, as well. It came to the pressed juice scene with claims that it had detoxifying properties, and has also been added to mud masks and other beauty products, like face masks and pore strips, with claims of similar benefits. The charcoal…

Raw cookie dough is latest NYC food fad

(Associated Press) Raw cookie dough is New York City’s latest unlikely food fad. People who would rather lick the spoon than eat a baked cookie are waiting in long lines outside a month-old New York City shop that sells scoops of dough in a cup or a cone like ice cream. Kristen Tomlan is the 28-year-old founder of DO (pronounced ‘doh’) Cookie Dough Confections. She says she’s selling 1,500 pounds of cookie dough a day at her Greenwich Village storefront. Nancy Lerman said she’s been twice before and has tried most of the flavors, which include chocolate chip, red velvet and peanut butter snickerdoodle. She said raw dough is yummier than a baked cookie. But is it safe? The store’s website, cookiedonyc.com, says, “Finally, cookie dough that you don’t have to pretend you are going to bake! All ingredients in each of our delicious, homemade recipes are completely safe to…
