The 100 most romantic restaurants in America, according to OpenTable users

Love is in the air — and so is the smell of delicious food! OpenTable, a popular restaurant reservation app, released its annual user-generated list of the 100 Most Romantic Restaurants in America, and the people have spoken. Overall, the list includes many quiet neighborhood favorites — not just fancy steakhouses with fussy over-priced menus. No matter where you dine around the country, people seem to most enjoy dining with loved ones where the food is good and the price is reasonable. That said, a lot of steakhouses did make the cut — four more this year than last year. With keto being the nation’s trendiest diet, perhaps it makes sense. Ohio takes top honors with nine romantic restaurants on the list. Texas has a respectable eight honorees. North Carolina and Virginia each boast seven and Pennsylvania rounds out the top five with six nominated restaurants. New York, Colorado, California,…

Here are 9 high-protein foods with 10 or fewer new grams of carbs to cover you at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Egg white grill Remove the biscuit or English muffin from any of Chick-fil-A’s breakfast sandwiches . The best-reviewed chain restaurants of the past year

These days, shoppers rarely buy anything without checking online reviews first — it’s so helpful, why not? So when a restaurant has received the most positive reviews online, it’s worth taking note. TripAdvisor recently revealed the best-reviewed restaurants in the U.S. for 2019, and we’re getting hungry! The world’s largest online travel site divided chain restaurants into three categories based on the number of restaurant locations: small (10-50 locations), medium (51-100 locations), and large (101 or more locations). Rankings for each were determined using an algorithm that took into account the quality, quantity and recency of reviews from all of the chain’s locations over the past 12 months. So did your favorite hub for grub make the cut? If it didn’t make the top 10 best chain restaurants of the year, pay it a visit, and write it an honest review. You’ll be helping other diners know what a great spot…

Warning: You may not want to use the pepper shaker at restaurants

The next time you’re out to eat, you may want to consider whether you really need to add salt and pepper to your meal. It turns out, pepper shakers are one of the dirtiest items in a restaurant. According to a study from ABC News, pepper shakers harbor one of the highest bacteria counts at a public dining facility with counts reaching 11,600 — second only to restaurant menus. (And for your complete disgust, restaurant menus were found to carry the most — an average bacteria count of 185,000 — and have 100 times more bacteria than your typical toilet seat.) The study examined swab samples taken from common table items at 12 restaurants throughout New York, Ohio, and Arizona. The swabs were then examined for “total bacteria counts and coliform — a broad class of bacteria found in our environment. The presence of coliform can indicated fecal matter.” Dr.…

This is the fastest drive-thru chain in America

It’s called “fast food” because it’s meant to be made, assembled, packaged and in your hands in mere minutes. But not all drive-thru dining establishments can deliver on this promise. There is, however, one fast food chain that delivers your order in the blink of an eye. A QSR Magazine study found that when you really need your order in a hurry, Burger King is the way to go. The restaurant chain best known for its flame broiled burgers was the fastest drive-thru chain in America in 2018. The study found that it only took three minutes and 13 seconds from the point of ordering, to the moment the order arrived in the hands of the customer. https://www.instagram.com/p/BmOKSFFnPUV/?taken-by=burgerking Trailing Burger King’s record came Dunkin’, Wendy’s, Taco Bell, Arby’s, Carl’s Jr., Hardee’s, Chick-fil-A, and McDonald’s — in that order. (Popular In-N-Out Burger and Bojangles’ were not included in the study because…

Xtreme Eating Awards rank most unhealthy dishes in America

A breakfast burrito might sound like a wholesome way to start your day, but if you order it from the Cheesecake Factory, you might want to think twice. According to the 2018 Xtreme Eating Awards, the popular restaurant’s Breakfast Burrito — with it’s salty chorizo, bacon, cheese and sour cream — tops this year’s list of “honorees” of the most terrible-for-you meals available at any chain restaurant across America. The annual Xtreme Eating Awards are published annually by the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) — the same organization responsible for lobbying the government to require chains to post calorie counts on menus. This isn’t the first time the decadent dining destination has been called out by the CSPI. The Cheesecake Factory’s shameful dish delivers 2.730 calories, 72 grams of saturated fat and 4,630 mg of sodium making it equal to eating “seven McDonald’s Sausage McMuffin” sandwiches, according…

Men think food tastes better when waitress is attractive, study claims

From interesting menu items to the perfect ambiance, restaurants pull out all stops to fill their seats night after night. But if it’s men they’re looking to attract to, the trick might be something much more simple. A recent study found that men believe their food tastes better when the waitress is attractive. Researchers say this is because good-looking women change mens’ expectations about their dining experience. Alternatively, the study found, when food is served by a handsome waiter, women’s opinions aren’t swayed. The research conducted by the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University in Canada surveyed 195 participants of both sexes. While an attractive woman raised men’s expectations of the dining experience, women were far more concerned with the location and noise level of the restaurant. Researched released a statement saying, “The current research shows that the presence of physically attractive individuals can affect consumers’ expectations about their consumption experience which…

Millennials are the worst tippers, survey shows

Of all the slack that Millennials take, this one might be the most merited. According to a new study, young people in this age range are terrible tippers. Credit cards.com surveyed 1,000 people and found that 10 percent of adults 18-37 routinely don’t leave any tip on their restaurant checks. And when Millennials do tip, it’s not nearly on the same level as other groups. At restaurants, nearly a third of tipping Millennials chose to leave less than a 15 percent. When presented with preselected options on a tablet (usually at a coffee shop or after taking an Uber), one in six Millennials choose the lowest amount, while one in five choose to leave nothing. Older age groups gave more generous tips in every situation. The study also found that across all age groups women are better tippers than men — going against the outdated thinking that men, as a whole, leave better tips. The median…
