There are lots of different types of sushi out there—nigiri, sashimi, maki, uramaki, temaki—but donut shaped sushi?

The idea was pioneered by vegan food Instagrammer Sam, aka @sobeautifullyreal with 300k followers, of Melbourne, Australia. She made the donuts by first greasing a silicon donut baking sheet with coconut oil and then filling it with cooled rice, avocado, ginger, sesame, wasabi and other ingredients you’d expect to find in a seaweed wrapped roll, not surrounding a donut hole.

If you  simply can not go on living  without having these in your life, you can watch Sam’s how-to video on Instagram and make your own tonight. You can get really get creative with toppings—go with Mexican flavors and top the rice ring with jalepenos, cheddar and beans. Italian style could inspire asparagus and prosciutto, or think dessert with mango, kiwi, cream cheese and strawberry sauce “icing”.
