Are some cereal manufacturers even trying to hide the fact that they’re more akin to junk food than a healthy start to the day?

Back in the 1970s and ’80s, the biggest culprit was Cookie Crisp — basically little chocolate chip cookies (that were fortified with eight vitamins and iron!)

Now, there are some new entries joining the crowd, hitting store shelves in the past few weeks, as seen below:

Post’s Peanut Butter and Cocoa Pebbles joins its cousins Fruity Pebbles, Cocoa Pebbles and Cinnamon Pebbles. (Did we mention there’s also a Marshmallow Fruity Pebbles?)

And then comes the Banana Pudding Nilla Wafers cereal, right on the heels of Nutter Butter and Chips Ahoy cereals, which came out late last year.

And let’s not forget Oreo O’s. The relaunch came about in 2017,  many years after Extreme Creme Taste Oreo O’s (with marshmallows!) left the shelves. And this spring, we have Golden Oreo O’s. (By the way, why didn’t they just call them Ore-O’s?)
