The folks at Krispy Kreme know how to keep customers coming back. People have loved the Original Glazed for decades, but it’s the string of new flavors like Nutter Butter, gingerbread and Reese’s Easter eggs that keep bringing new interest — all of which are only available for a limited time.
America was asked to vote earlier this year, and after tallying more than 2 million entries, the Lemon Glazed Doughnut came out on top. The tangy treat will be available in stores for a full week, from Monday, April 23 to Sunday, April 29.
If you like the original, and you like lemon, you’ll likely love the new Lemon Glaze Doughnut. It might remind you of a lemon pound cake drizzled with icing, but in doughnut form.
“There has been so much anticipation and zest for the new Lemon Glaze Doughnut, we can’t wait to share the joy with our fans,” Chief Marketing Officer Jackie Woodward said.
The lemon flavor won out with 36 percent of the vote. Others flavors in contention were caramel (26 percent), blueberry (20 percent) and maple (18 percent) during the January 2018 vote.
“Lemon won the vote, but we can’t glaze over the fact that the other three flavors all received a lot of support, even beyond the votes. Our fans’ passion for these flavors — and others — came through loud and clear on social media. So while the polls are closed, our minds are not,” Jackie Woodward, Chief Marketing Officer of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts said in a statement.
So if your sour about lemon winning over your favorite, there might still be hope.
